Our Learners of 2017

23/03/2018

2017 was a fantastic year at BB Training Academy. Many of our learners made great strides in achieving their career goals, whether that was developing new skills, progressing into a higher job role or completing their course.

We love to recognise and reward the hard work our learners put in to learning alongside their day to day duties. We have so many success stories but there are a few stand out learners whose enthusiasm, dedication and eagerness to learn has really impressed us, their Training Officer and their colleagues.

One of the ways we recognise great achievements, is through our Learner of the Year and Learner of the Quarter titles. We believe it’s important to highlight achievements, skills and talent where we can to not only reward hard work but inspire others to reach their goals.

Find out more below about our 4 fantastic Learners of the Quarter of 2017 and Jade, our Learner of the Year.

Jade Duncanson

Learner of the Quarter and Learner of the Year

Jade is an exceptional apprentice. Just ask anyone who works with her or who has observed her. Jade was nominated for Learner of the Quarter by her Training Officer Karen Fowler, who said in her nomination, that Jade’s energy and enthusiasm in her role and for her coursework, is outstanding.

Jade does everything she can to give each child the right care. Karen used an example of how Jade supported a child who required help with their communication. Jade had a professional conversation with the child’s key person, before liaising with the speech therapist to find the correct approach to the child’s care. Then through activities she helped to enhance the child’s speech and language.

The manager of Busy Bees Castleview, Jade’s nursery, only had praise for her too, calling her an excellent apprentice who goes the extra mile to support her peers and the children.

We were so impressed with Jade that we knew that she deserved both Learner of the Quarter and Learner of the Year. We think she is a real inspiration for other learners who are looking to get the most out of their role and their learning.

Jennifer Bursnoll

Learner of the Quarter

It wasn’t Jenni’s only notable achievement in 2017. Jenni was promoted to nursery manager at Busy Bees at Wigan Scholes, where she has worked for the last 14 years. She started at the nursery as an apprentice in early years way back in 2004 and upon qualifying became a room manager.

Jenni was nominated for Learner of the Quarter by her tutor, Rachel Jackson, who shared with us how impressed she has been with Jenni’s eagerness to absorb information and learn about best practices to be effective in her new role as nursery manager.

Jenni’s dedication, passion and drive to learn and understand more about her role in childcare made her a worthy Learner of the Quarter.

Jenni even used the knowledge and skills she learnt from her course to help her be successful in her interview for nursery manager at Busy Bees Wigan Scholes. She developed a marketing plan and budgets which she presented in her interview, illustrating her dedication and passion for her role.

Leonie Osterberg

Learner of the Quarter

Leonie was nominated for Learner of the Quarter by her nursery manager, Amanda Evans. It was Leonie’s work inside and outside the nursery that really impressed Amanda. During an event to market the nursery in the local community, Leonie helped to organise the activities and suggested additional items to take.

She even got a shout out for Busy Bees twice on the live stand at the event. Keep up the hard work Leonie.

Leonie turned up early on the morning of the event to help set up and stayed afterwards to clean up, giving up her Saturday. Leonie got involved in the children’s activities and confidently spoke to parents. Her drive and enthusiasm throughout the day helped to make for a great event for Thetford nursery.

Naomi Underhill

Learner of the Quarter

Naomi hasn’t just received recognition from us for her outstanding work and dedication to her role. The early years coordinator at her nursery gave Naomi a glowing assessment after observing her.

Naomi’s tutor nominated her because of the hard work, commitment and wonderful practice she delivers each day. It’s great to hear about Naomi’s caring approach and the positive impact she is having on the children and their families.

They highlighted the significant impact Naomi’s approach to supporting children with complex needs has had both on the children and their families.

Jenni even used the knowledge and skills she learnt from her course to help her be successful in her interview for nursery manager at Busy Bees Wigan Scholes. She developed a marketing plan and budgets which she presented in her interview, illustrating her dedication and passion for her role.

A big well done to all our learners

To say well done to all our learners of the Quarter and Year, we’ve treated them to a well-deserved relaxing spa break. Keep up the great work! Keep an eye out on our blog, Facebook and Twitter for our next Learner of the Quarter later in 2018. Could it be you?
