Job Description

    Your Mission

    As a SENCO & Safeguarding Officer, you will lead the SEND provision and have a passion for working with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities as well as a key interest in keeping up to date with safeguarding on a national level.

    You will have the responsibility of providing support to development coaches to achieve the best outcomes for the learners. You will have a good understanding of how to support learners with any additional needs, and how to claim funding that can enhance the learner’s experience.

    You will be responsible for identifying and feeding back issues and trends regarding safeguarding within the areas we deliver nationally. You will make links with external organisations and will be confident to share this information with the wider team.

    Key Tasks • Develop and oversee the implementation of our SEN strategy • Identify needs and monitors the progress of learners with additional needs • Work with other departments to ensure learners are receiving the best learning experience and are reaching their potential • Monitor individual education plans and learning support plans • Provide advice and guidance and training to assessment staff on supporting learners with SEND • Lead Cross Team meetings with SMT/Operations to ensure each SEN learner or learners who match on Cognassist are discussed • Analyse local and national data and develop appropriate strategies and interventions including policies • Provide advice and guidance around safeguarding nationally • Lead training sessions to support internal employees. Requirements for the Role • While this role will be homebased, there must be a willingness to travel • Understanding of the law and guidance on special educational needs and disabilities • Knowledge of types of abuse and signs and indicators to look for • Knowledge of special educational needs and disabilities and how to support individuals to reach their full potential • Have experience working in a SEND provision. • Safeguarding knowledge Qualifications • Level 3 or above Education and Training • Hold a relevant qualification in Special Educational Needs • Maths and English.

    Experience • Creating resources to support assessment staff and learners • Carrying out training sessions around SEND • Applying and understanding reasonable adjustments. • Safeguarding • Working knowledge of relevant legislation • Supporting Learners with SEND needs to achieve • Prior knowledge of IEPs.
