Entry Requirements
To enrol on this teaching assistant level 3 apprenticeship, you must:

  • Be employed or willing to work in a role within a school setting
  • Ideally hold a Level 2 Teaching and Learning qualification or equivalent
  • Be willing and able to access a Busy Bees training centre on occasions throughout your course to aid your learning
  • Be able to gain a satisfactory Data Barring Service (DBS)

The EPA for this teaching assistant apprenticeship will consist of:

  • A Professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence
  • Situational judgement test
  • Apprentices are graded: Pass, Merit or Distinction

Qualification
Teaching Assistant Level 3

Learners on this Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship will build an advanced understanding of how to provide quality teaching and how to influence and support learners. Some of the areas of development include:

  • Contributing to the implementation of learning activities
  • Evaluating the performance of lesson plans and how to improve for the future
  • Working independently in teaching group and individual activities
  • Working in partnership with teachers to help support and deliver lesson plans and objectives

To enrol on this teaching assistant level 3 apprenticeship, you must:

  • Be employed or willing to work in a role within a school setting
  • Ideally hold a Level 2 Teaching and Learning qualification or equivalent
  • Be willing and able to access a Busy Bees training centre on occasions throughout your course to aid your learning
  • Be able to gain a satisfactory Data Barring Service (DBS)

Teaching Assistant Level 3

On successful completion, apprentices will be eligible for the following roles:

  • Teaching Assistant in infant or junior school
  • Teaching Assistant in a special school
  • Teaching Assistant in a secondary school or independent school
  • Senior Teaching Assistant
  • Senior Learning Support Assistant
  • Senior Special Educational Needs Assistant

The EPA for this teaching assistant apprenticeship will consist of:

  • A Professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence
  • Situational judgement test
  • Apprentices are graded: Pass, Merit or Distinction

Off-the-Job training (OTJ) is a requirement for all apprenticeship standards at all levels. Apprentices must spend 20% of their working hours undertaking OTJ throughout their learning or practical period. OTJ is defined as “learning which is undertaken outside of the normal day-to-day working environment and leads toward the achievement of an apprenticeship.”

Off-the-Job training must be directly relevant to the apprenticeship programme and teach new knowledge, skills and/or behaviours that will help you reach competence in your occupation.
