Scottish Apprenticeships

Our Scottish apprenticeships are similar to apprenticeships offered throughout the rest of the UK, but there are some differences in how they are structured and delivered, with different qualifications and learning outcomes.

For example, the Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) are the main vocational qualifications offered in Scotland, whereas in England, the equivalent qualification for an apprenticeship is the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ).

Scotland has its own apprenticeship frameworks, which differ from those in the rest of the UK. These frameworks define the content and structure of Scottish apprenticeships and are designed to meet the needs of Scottish employers and industries.

Our Scottish apprenticeships are focused on Social Services Children and Young People SVQ Level 3 (SCQF Level 7) and Social Services Children and Young People SVQ Level 4 (SCQF Level 9).

Social Services Children and Young People SVQ Level 3 (SCQF Level 7)

This SVQ Level 3 Social Services Children and Young People course is delivered over 13 – 18 months and allows candidates to demonstrate competence in job-related skills in their particular area of work.

Social Services Children and Young People SVQ Level 4 (SCQF Level 9)

Our SVQ Level 4 Social Services courses is flexible and delivered via blended learning with one-to-one support. This Scottish apprenticeship typically lasts between 13 to 18 months and is a work-based training programme.
