Entry Requirements

• You must be employed in an adult health and social care role.

• The employer may set additional entry requirements.

 • Individuals without Level 1 English and Maths will need to achieve this level and will need to take the test for Level 2 English and Maths prior to taking the end-point assessment.

End Point Assessments (EPA)
This adult care worker apprenticeship requires you to complete a Self-Assessment and obtain a Service User Testimony. The EPA consists of:

• A professional discussion.

• Situational judgement test.

• Apprentices are graded: Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Qualification
Adult Care Worker Level 2

Adult care workers demonstrate compassion and consideration as well as maintaining the individual’s dignity and respect. They also provide excellent communication skills to ensure the individual in care understands any important instructions.

Whilst completing this health and social care apprenticeship, you will learn:

• Professional boundaries

• What the ‘duty of care’ is in practice

• About different forms of communication: signing and communication boards

• What abuse is and what to do when there are concerns that someone is being abused

• How to recognise signs of unsafe practices in the workplace

• You must be employed in an adult health and social care role.

• The employer may set additional entry requirements.

 • Individuals without Level 1 English and Maths will need to achieve this level and will need to take the test for Level 2 English and Maths prior to taking the end-point assessment.

Adult Care Worker Level 2

• This adult care worker apprenticeship provides an ideal entry into the occupation and supports progression within the sector. Typical job roles include support worker, personal assistant, or re-enablement worker.

• Level 2 apprentices can progress to the level 3 care apprenticeship in adult care and together with additional training. This can also support progression to job roles that require a more complex set of skills and responsibilities, e.g., Lead Adult Care Worker, Lead Personal Assistant.

This adult care worker apprenticeship requires you to complete a Self-Assessment and obtain a Service User Testimony. The EPA consists of:

Off-the-Job training (OTJ) is a requirement for all apprenticeship standards at all levels. Apprentices must spend 20% of their working hours undertaking OTJ throughout their learning or practical period. OTJ is defined as “learning which is undertaken outside of the normal day-to-day working environment and leads toward the achievement of an apprenticeship.”

Off-the-Job training must be directly relevant to the apprenticeship programme and teach new knowledge, skills and/or behaviours that will help you reach competence in your occupation.
