Entry Requirements

To enrol on the early years practitioner level 2 apprenticeship, you must:

  • Be able to gain a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS)
  • Be willing and able to access a Busy Bees training centre on occasion throughout their course to aid your learning

End Point Assessments (EPA)

Learners joining this childcare level 2 apprenticeship will need to complete an EPA consisting of:

  • A professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence
  • Situational judgement test

Upon successful completion apprentices will be graded with a pass or distinction.

Early Years Practitioner Level 2

Whilst completing this childcare apprenticeship the learner will be provided with an understanding in multiple areas of childcare including:

  • Early years development of children and young people in communication and personal development
  • How to develop a positive and caring environment for children and young people
  • Build and maintain a relationship with children and young people
  • Why health and well-being is important for babies and children

To enrol on the early years practitioner level 2 apprenticeship, you must:

  • Be able to gain a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS)
  • Be willing and able to access a Busy Bees training centre on occasion throughout their course to aid your learning

Early Years Practitioner Level 2

Upon successful completion of this childcare level 2 apprenticeship, learners will be eligible for the following roles:

  • Nursery Assistant
  • Early Years Educator
  • Creche Assistant
  • Toy Library Worker
  • Care Worker
  • Youth and Community Worker
  • Nanny
  • Assistant Childminder
Apprentices may also want to go on to complete their Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship.

Learners joining this childcare level 2 apprenticeship will need to complete an EPA consisting of:

Off-the-Job training (OTJ) is a requirement for all apprenticeship standards at all levels. Apprentices must spend 20% of their working hours undertaking OTJ throughout their learning or practical period. OTJ is defined as “learning which is undertaken outside of the normal day-to-day working environment and leads toward the achievement of an apprenticeship.”

Off-the-Job training must be directly relevant to the apprenticeship programme and teach new knowledge, skills and/or behaviours that will help you reach competence in your occupation.
